There is something about waiting that drives us a little crazy. Waiting our turn. Waiting in line. Waiting in traffic. I don’t know anyone who enjoys waiting. We want to get what we want and not have to wait. Waiting interrupts our agenda.
It is our inward desires that make waiting so difficult. It is our sin nature that wants everything our own way. The root of the problem with waiting is that we seek our own will over God’s will. However, we are called to wait for Him and not jump ahead of Him.
God’s ways are not our ways. His thoughts are not our thoughts. He is patient and loves us enough to make us wait. It is in the waiting that we need to seek Him. We need to set aside our desires for an instant answer and spend time in prayer and reading the Bible. We need to draw close to Him.
Waiting is an opportunity to slow down. We could be waiting for the light to change or for the diagnosis to come. Both situations can be handled with prayer. Seek God in the waiting. Trust that He is in control of everything and will work all things together for those who love Him.
Seek God as you wait.
