Before I understood that following Jesus was a relationship, not a checklist, I was talking with an acquaintance about heaven. I wasn’t sure if I was good enough to be able to go. She looked at me and said, matter-of-factly, she was going. That was the end of the conversation, and I was left wondering.
God kept prompting me to figure it out. I attended church and Bible studies for more information but was still unsure. Then, one day, I crumbled. I cried, and it was an ugly cry while I told God how sorry I was for not putting Him first. I turned my life over to Jesus, and now I know that I am going to heaven.
God calls to us. He places people and experiences in our lives that help us to recognize Him. He prompts our hearts to long for a deep relationship with Him. God calls us from our hell-bound race and into His arms. He provided His Son, Jesus, so that we could come to Him.
What awaits the soul that is saved? Jesus rejoices over us. He delights in us getting to know Him and spending time with Him. The longing is gone because it had been filled by the only One who could fill it. Joy is proclaimed with loud singing all because we moved from information to transformation.
