My Hope and Strength

I am an orphan. It happened when I was 54 years old. I have lost both parents and both in-laws. I have walked the road with them to the end of this life and to the beginning of eternity. God was there through it all.

God answered my cries when my mother was airlifted to the hospital. I told Him that I was not ready. He told me that He had been preparing my heart. He whispered in my ear that He would be taking my dad that night. I received the call at 4 am.

There is no point in our lives that God is not there. As followers of Christ, our hope is not in this world, but in the next. As abilities wane and our health declines, even then, God loves us and cherishes us. Our physical strength may fail but it is when we are weak that He is our strength.

The promise of what is to come is why we can rejoice even in our weaknesses. It is taking our eyes off of the external and focusing then on what is to come. Sing praise to the One who gives us breath and hold tight to the promise of no more tears for the reward will last forever.

When we can’t, God can.
