As a parent, it seems like you say the same things over and over. One Mother’s Day, we were at church and the priest was trying to make a point. So, he asked my 6 year old son what is the thing that your mother says to you over and over.
He thought for a second and then answered, “I love you.” Blew his whole sermon. He had been looking for an answer like pick up your toys or clean your room. The woman behind me tapped me in the shoulder and said, “You must be so proud.” We need to hear things multiple times for them to take ahold. My son heard, “I love you” the most.
Jesus says again, “Peace be with you.” He had just appeared to the disciples after His resurrection. He greets them with, “Peace be with you” and says it again. They need to hear it repeatedly. We need to hear it. Our hearts search for the peace that is found in Jesus.
Pouring into the life of someone leaves an impression. Being kind and showing love to others reveals that they have worth in your eyes. Giving them your peace can point them to Jesus. Sharing your hope can stir their hearts to long for what you have.
What you do matters and is remembered.
