When I was in second grade, we would have spelling tests. If I didn’t think I did very well, I would write another girl’s name on my paper. The problem that my 6 year old mind didn’t think about was that I didn’t have a paper. Plus, I would spell her name wrong and there were only 11 kids in my class.
I was ashamed of my mistakes and, even at that early age, I wanted to hide them. I didn’t want anyone to know that I failed. It is common for us to want to hide our mistakes. What would people think? But, why do we hide the fact that we follow Christ?
God knows our hearts. He loves us and while we were still sinners He sent His Son to pay for our sins. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, our sins are forgiven. They are wiped away. We are a new creation. That is the good news of the gospel. It is transforming and exciting.
Why then do so many people not talk about Jesus and the life-giving power of the gospel? We place what man thinks of us over what Jesus thinks of us. We hide the fact that we are Christian in order to not be ridiculed. Guess what. God can see that you tried to pass yourself off as one of the people of the world instead of proclaiming the Good News to others.
Claim your place beside Jesus and tell everyone about what it means to you.
